For most organisations, winning a contract is an achievement.

For Bespoke Care & Support Services, this feels like something much more significant.

It feels like coming home.

Following a highly competitive procurement process undertaken by Kirklees Council, Bespoke Care & Support Services has been appointed as a Lead Provider for both Huddersfield Central East and Huddersfield Central West.

For many organisations, those areas may simply represent geographical contract lots on a procurement document.

For us, they represent the very reason Bespoke Care was created.

Fourteen Years Ago, a Vision Was Born

When Andrew Johnson and Diane Ryan founded Bespoke Care & Support Services over fourteen years ago, they did so with a simple but powerful ambition.

They wanted to create a care provider that truly belonged to the communities it served.

They wanted to build a service rooted in Central Huddersfield. A service that understood local people, local families and local communities.

They believed that care should never feel distant, impersonal or transactional.

They believed that older people and vulnerable adults deserved to receive support from people who genuinely understood the area they lived in, the challenges they faced and the lives they had built.

From the beginning, Bespoke Care focused its efforts on the heart of Huddersfield, serving central Huddersfield communities.

While many providers sought to expand rapidly across larger geographical regions, Bespoke deliberately chose a different path.

The organisation remained focused on delivering exceptional care within Central Huddersfield communities.

Growth was important, but quality was more important.

Relationships were more important.

People were more important.

Today, fourteen years later, Kirklees Council has appointed Bespoke Care as a Lead Provider for the very communities that inspired the organisation's creation.

That is not just a business milestone.

It is the fulfilment of a vision.

Built by the Community, for the Community

Throughout our history, Bespoke Care has remained proudly local.

Many of our care workers live within the same communities as the people they support.

Many of our office staff have spent years building relationships with local families, health professionals and community organisations.

Many of our service users have been supported by Bespoke for years.

This connection to our community has always been one of our greatest strengths.

It means our teams understand the neighbourhoods they work within.

It means we can build meaningful relationships.

It means we are not simply delivering care within Central Huddersfield communities.

We are part of those communities.

This commitment to locality was recognised during the procurement process.

Kirklees Council highlighted Bespoke Care's strong community integration, local workforce and visible presence within the areas we serve. The assessment recognised our commitment to building services around people, families and neighbourhoods rather than simply delivering tasks.

For a provider founded specifically to support Central Huddersfield, that recognition is incredibly meaningful.

Why This Matters

Home care is about far more than visits, rotas and schedules.

At its heart, home care is about helping people remain independent in the place they know best.

Their own home.

Their own street.

Their own community.

Every day, our teams support people to continue living the lives they choose.

We help people remain connected to the places and routines that matter most to them.

We support families during difficult times.

We provide reassurance, companionship, dignity and practical support when it is needed most.

Over fourteen years, we have had the privilege of supporting thousands of people across Huddersfield and Kirklees.

Many of those families have taken the time to tell us what that support has meant to them.

One family recently thanked our team for helping their auntie through a difficult period, praising the empathy, kindness and respect shown by care workers who built trust over time and supported her with patience and dignity.

Another family described the extraordinary support provided through Parkinson's disease, dementia and end-of-life care.

Others have spoken about care workers who became trusted companions, who brought comfort during difficult moments and who consistently went above and beyond expectations.

These stories remind us why we do what we do.

Because behind every care package is a person.

Behind every visit is a life.

And behind every schedule is a family placing their trust in us.

The People Behind Bespoke Care

No organisation achieves something like this alone.

This achievement belongs to an incredible workforce that has spent years delivering care with compassion, professionalism and commitment.

When we listen to our staff, we hear many of the same themes that appear in service user feedback.

Staff tell us they feel valued.

They tell us they feel supported.

They tell us management listen to them.

They tell us they have opportunities to learn, develop and progress.

Many have built long-term careers with Bespoke Care.

Some have completed qualifications while working with us.

Others have progressed into more senior roles.

Several have worked for other providers before joining Bespoke and describe the organisation as different because of its culture, support and commitment to both service users and staff.

In one staff survey, every sponsored worker who responded stated that they would recommend Bespoke Care to others. Every respondent reported that concerns would be taken seriously and acted upon, while all respondents reported that they had not experienced discrimination based on nationality, religion or cultural background.

Those findings matter because exceptional care is delivered by people who themselves feel respected, supported and valued.

Listening, Learning and Improving

The journey to becoming a Lead Provider has not happened by accident.

Over recent years, Bespoke Care has undertaken significant work to strengthen and modernise the organisation.

Care plans have been redesigned.

Risk assessment systems have been modernised.

Quality assurance processes have been strengthened.

Auditing systems have been improved.

Governance arrangements have been reviewed and enhanced.

Service reviews have been modernised.

New approaches to quality improvement have been introduced throughout the organisation.

This work has involved contributions from directors, managers, coordinators, administrative staff and care workers alike.

It has required commitment, honesty and a willingness to continuously improve.

Importantly, it has also involved listening.

Listening to service users.

Listening to families.

Listening to staff.

Listening to commissioners and partners.

Because meaningful improvement only happens when organisations are willing to learn.

Recognition from Kirklees Council

The procurement process undertaken by Kirklees Council was rigorous and detailed.

It assessed providers against a wide range of criteria, including service quality, workforce arrangements, equality and diversity, community integration, reliability and person-centred care.

The feedback received highlighted many of the qualities that have always been central to Bespoke Care.

Assessors recognised our commitment to person-centred care.

They recognised our values-based culture.

They recognised our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

They recognised our reliability and our connection to the communities we serve.

Most importantly, they recognised our ability to deliver care that places people at the centre of everything we do.

Being appointed Lead Provider for both Central East and Central West represents a significant vote of confidence in the organisation, our workforce and the services we provide.

Looking Forward

This achievement is not the end of our story.

It is the beginning of a new chapter.

A chapter that will see Bespoke Care continue investing in people, quality and community.

A chapter that will see us continue delivering award winning care across Huddersfield and Kirklees.

A chapter that will see us continue supporting older people, families and vulnerable adults to live independently within their own homes.

Most importantly, it is a chapter that remains true to the principles on which Bespoke Care was founded fourteen years ago.

To provide outstanding home care in Huddersfield.

To provide outstanding home care in Kirklees.

To serve Central Huddersfield communities with compassion, dignity and respect.

And to ensure that every person we support is treated not as a service user, but as an individual.

Thank You

We would like to thank every member of the Bespoke Care family who has helped make this achievement possible.

To Andrew and Diane, whose vision started this journey.

To our office team, managers, coordinators and administrators.

To our dedicated care workers who represent Bespoke Care in people's homes every single day.

To our service users and families who place their trust in us.

And to the communities of Central Huddersfield that have supported us throughout the last fourteen years.

This recognition belongs to all of you.

Fourteen years ago, Bespoke Care was founded to serve the people of Central Huddersfield.

Today, Kirklees Council has entrusted Bespoke Care to help lead the delivery of care across Central Huddersfield East and Central Huddersfield West.

For everyone connected to Bespoke Care & Support Services, that is a moment of immense pride.

And we are only just getting started.
