At Bespoke Care, we’re proud to deliver award-winning care to our clients in central Huddersfield and across the wider Kirklees area. But it’s not just our work that connects us to the town—it’s our love for the community, the people, and the incredible places that surround us.
Last Saturday, I broke from my usual routine and set out on a spontaneous walk with friends. The goal? Fresh air, scenic views, and a deeper appreciation for the town we call home. What followed was a 9-mile route that truly brought home just how special Huddersfield is.
We began in Lockwood, carefully sticking to public footpaths to keep off-road and immersed in nature. Our route wound through Newsome and Hall Bower, gradually leading us up to the iconic Victoria Tower on Castle Hill. With each step, the views became more breathtaking fields opening out, woods thick with life, and gentle streams carving their way through the greenery.
The Yorkshire Victoria Memorial Tower – a proud landmark watching over the town.
After descending from Castle Hill, we meandered into Farnley Tyas, pausing for a well-earned drink at the Golden Cock pub. The charm of the village was undeniable quaint, welcoming, and full of character. Just beside Farnley Tyas CE School, we re-entered woodland that felt almost storybook-like in its beauty.
Where the countryside whispers: keep going, there's more to see.
From there, we dropped down into Brockholes, taking another brief stop at The Rock before heading into new territory for me, Magdale Woods, nestled in the Honley area. The scenes there were truly something to behold: trickling streams, ancient trees, and peace so profound it felt like time slowed down.
A haven hidden in plain sight. The sound of water and wind in perfect harmony.
All in, we walked 9 miles and clocked over 20,000 steps. I can’t lie—I bit off a bit more than I could chew, but I’d do it all again in a heartbeat. These moments remind us why our team is so passionate about delivering personal care in the heart of our community. We don’t just work here—we live, walk, and breathe it.
Huddersfield isn’t just our base. It’s a rich tapestry of history, nature, and community. And if you're ever looking for a reason to explore it, take this as your sign. Pack some water, grab a friend, and set out on foot—you might just fall in love with this town all over again.
